A special note from Judy...

"I was so excited today when I got our new shipment of beanies/blankets for our 10” babies, I just had to share! Gopi made these two particular hats. I just love the individual creativity. Our babies look so beautiful-one looks like a sun hat for the beach, and the other a cute beret! It takes a lot of effort and talent to make these items. I know I could never do anything this beautiful, and so many different patterns of stitches in each one. I am very proud to offer these with the sale of our dolls. I just wanted to say a special thank you to Cathy and her ladies for the artistry and creativity they are expressing through their work. We are lucky to have them to enhance our doll sales."

Refugee Sewing Society

The women of the society are refugees who have escaped genocide. They have fled from many countries -- Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi, Burma, Bhutan, and others.

Their aim is to find healing through creative arts and crafts.

Their dream is to build self-sustaining businesses that will allow them to work at home while caring for their children.
Refugee women from war-torn nations gather each week at Clarkston Community Center in Atlanta, Georgia. While sewing, knitting, crocheting, beading and embroidering, they share joys and sorrows

Many of them have lost husbands, fathers, and children to war. The women have endured great suffering, but believe their lives have purpose and hope.
